FAQ
Have a question about Gosper? You’re in the right place. Below are the questions we hear most often. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, we’re happy to help.
What is Gosper?
Section titled “What is Gosper?”Gosper is an AI agent that takes a goal you describe in plain language and carries it out for you. Instead of giving it step-by-step instructions, you tell it what you want — and Gosper figures out the steps, does the work, and reports back.
For example, you might ask:
“Build me a hello-world Python script and run it.”
“Pull the highlights out of this report and turn them into a short summary.”
“Take the video I uploaded and publish it to my YouTube channel.”
Gosper breaks each goal into smaller steps, does the work, and shows you the result.
What can Gosper do?
Section titled “What can Gosper do?”Gosper is built to actually get things done, not just chat. It can:
- Write and run code in a secure, isolated workspace — and show you the output. Great for scripts, data crunching, file conversion, quick automation, and prototypes.
- Use external tools and connected apps to take real actions — for example, uploading a video, sending through an email account, or saving files to cloud storage.
- Work on long-running tasks in the background so you can hand off something big, close the tab, and come back later to find it done (or in progress).
- Accept your files and videos as input, then read, process, transform, or publish them.
- Tackle multi-step goals end to end, keeping track of a plan as it goes so nothing gets dropped.
A handy way to think about it: if a task can be described in words and accomplished with files, code, or connected apps, Gosper can usually take a real run at it.
What can’t Gosper do?
Section titled “What can’t Gosper do?”Gosper is powerful, but it has clear boundaries — many of them there to keep you in control:
- It won’t touch accounts you haven’t connected. Gosper can only act through the apps and tools you’ve explicitly authorized.
- It won’t take sensitive actions without checking with you on tasks that warrant it — it pauses to ask for your approval first.
- It can’t act in the physical world. Gosper works with software, files, and online services, not anything offline.
- It isn’t guaranteed to be perfect. Like any AI, it can occasionally make mistakes, so please review important outputs before relying on them.
- It works within the tools available to it. If a task needs a service Gosper can’t reach, it will let you know rather than guess.
When in doubt, just ask Gosper directly — it will tell you whether your request is something it can handle.
How do I give Gosper a task?
Section titled “How do I give Gosper a task?”Just describe what you want in everyday language — no special commands or syntax required. Be as specific as you’d like; the clearer the goal, the better the result.
You can also have a back-and-forth conversation. If Gosper needs more detail, it will ask, and you can refine or redirect it at any time.
For bigger jobs, you can kick off a background task and let Gosper keep working while you do other things.
Can Gosper work on long tasks in the background?
Section titled “Can Gosper work on long tasks in the background?”Yes. Some goals take a while — processing a large file, running a multi-step workflow, or producing something substantial. You can start these as background tasks and step away.
Gosper keeps a running checklist for each task so it stays on track from start to finish, and you can check in on its progress, steer it, or cancel it whenever you like.
Can Gosper connect to my other apps and tools?
Section titled “Can Gosper connect to my other apps and tools?”Yes. Gosper can work with external services — for example, video platforms, email, and cloud storage — so it can take real actions on your behalf.
You stay in control: you authorize each connection yourself, and Gosper uses it only to carry out the requests you make. You can ask Gosper to connect an account right inside your conversation when a task needs it.
Can I upload files and videos?
Section titled “Can I upload files and videos?”Absolutely. You can hand Gosper files and videos to work with, and it can read, process, convert, or publish them as part of your goal.
A common example: upload a video, then ask Gosper to publish it to your channel — it handles the steps in between.
What languages does Gosper support?
Section titled “What languages does Gosper support?”Human languages: Gosper understands and responds in many languages, so you can talk to it in the language you’re most comfortable with. It’s especially strong in English and Chinese.
Programming languages: In its secure workspace, Gosper can write and run code in common languages such as Python and JavaScript/Node.js, along with standard command-line tools. You don’t need to know any of this yourself — just describe the outcome you want.
How does Gosper handle my data and privacy?
Section titled “How does Gosper handle my data and privacy?”Your work matters, so we treat it with care:
- Your conversations, files, and results are saved securely so you can pick up right where you left off.
- Your workspace is your own. Each person’s files and conversations are kept separate from everyone else’s.
- Code runs in an isolated, sandboxed environment that’s spun up just for your task and shut down when it’s no longer needed — it never has standing access to the rest of your data.
- Connected accounts are used only for what you ask. You authorize each connection, and you can think of it as Gosper acting on your instructions, on your behalf.
As a good habit with any online service, avoid pasting passwords or secrets directly into a message unless a task specifically requires it.
Are there any limits?
Section titled “Are there any limits?”A few sensible guardrails keep things running smoothly:
- Long tasks have a built-in budget so work can’t run away unchecked, and Gosper pauses for your approval before sensitive actions.
- Idle workspaces go to sleep after a short period of inactivity to keep things efficient; Gosper picks back up when there’s more to do.
- Very large or unusual jobs may take longer or need to be broken into pieces — Gosper will keep you posted as it goes.
If you ever bump into a limit, Gosper will tell you what happened and, where possible, suggest a way forward.
